Mobile phone bicycle charger kit

Phone manufacturer Nokia has come up with a device that uses pedal power alone to charge up batteries.

It uses a cable that connects to a dynamo, which charges when the wheels turn, and comes with a phone holder that straps to the handlebars.

For an average handset, cycling at speed of 10 miles an hour for 10 minutes will give you around 28 minutes of talk-time or 37 minutes of standby, according to Nokia.

'This is a great solution to a real challenge, whether people will use it due to limited access to electricity, or to be more environmentally responsible.'

The kit will go on sale towards the end of the year.
